Respect, Research, Responsibility and Restraint with Anne E Stewart

Anne has long talked of Australia’s ‘layers of identity’ and works with participants on protocols for using indigenous material, onto the Anglo-Celtic settlement of Australia with it’s convicts, colonists and gold seeking past and multicultural storytelling with stories from across the globe, including Scotland, Ireland, Africa, Mexico, Italy, China, Japan, and East Timor.

This is a participatory and practical workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring an Australian iconic story or a story of their local area. We will work with these and other stories.

In 2017 Anne Celebrates 40 years storytelling, she is a versatile performer with the energy and voice to engage any audience. Anne has told stories in some of Australia’s major cultural institutions, including ABC radio and TV. Anne has been an invited guest at Storytelling festivals throughout Australia, the UK, Mexico, Colombia and Iran.

Outline of day:

10am: Arrive /cuppa

10.15 - Story Circle - Open Mike for anyone who would like to ‘tell’ a story and receive feedback if requested. This is a great opportunity to develop your storytelling skills.

11.30 - Meal Break - Bring own lunch

12.00pm - Workshop - An Australian Storyteller: "Respect, Research, Responsibility and Restraint" 4pm – Close

 Venue: Gladesville Community Centre, 44 Gladesville Road, Hunters Hill.

Cost: $50 members, $60 Non-members
