An introduction to humour techniques. Areas covered will include uncovering your creative genius through playful discovery, using comedy techniques and exercises. Caroline says, “analyse any great speaker, and they will be using quick thinking, creative techniques from the world of comic creativity.”

A session to find and connect your natural humour to your unique storytelling style. This session will reveal all you didn’t realise you already knew about comedy theory and how to harness it using personal story. Working in the round, we recognise the seeds of your comic strengths to build on for your stories. All you need is yourself for this workshop.

Since 1997 Caroline Welkin has worked with hundreds of people to find their funny to incorporate into spoken word arts, from storytelling to front of the room, corporate speaking to stand-up comedy. With simple techniques to set you on the road to a daily workout for your funny muscles, Caroline will guide you to connect to your funny place through personal stories.

Afternoon Session 1pm-3.45pm: Pausing to Discover the Emotional Landscape of Story with Christine Carlton

A workshop to explore the deeper layers of the story that bring about colour, depth and rhythm of emotional connection with the story, teller and audience.

Where is the emotion and the moments of change, challenge, surprise that invite the teller and audience to pause to resonate, find meaning and connect with the story? How do we provide the space for that connection? We will engage in simple exercises with both personal stories and short fables.

Christine believes Storytelling engages and transforms the human spirit. She offers workshops and coaching throughout Australia and overseas for adults, children, community groups and organizations.
