Our 2017 One Day NSW Storytelling Conference for adults Storytelling to Capture Your Audience was well attended despite the shorter than usual notice this year. We hosted two new presenters, award winning children’s author Sue Murray and best-selling non-fiction author and journalist James Knight. They were joined by Patsy Allan- Early Childhood specialist from Canberra, President Christine Carlton from Sydney and storytelling duo, Ulf Nilsson and Lindy Mitchell-Nilsson from the Central Coast. Participants from all over NSW enjoyed a wide range of workshops which covered many aspects of storytelling from the creating and crafting of the tale, to the telling of the tale.

In the afternoon, participants enjoyed the family concert and were thoroughly entertained by the 7 finalists of the NSW Children’s Storytelling Competition. Their stories included personal and creative stories written by the children as well as contemporary published tales. The afternoon finished with a wonderful folktale from duo Ulf and Lindy and a humorous version of the Hare and the Tortoise by Christine Greenough.
