The Sydney International Storytelling Conference Cancelled
The decision was made back in March to postpone the 2020 Conference due to the Covid-19 virus. We had hoped that the world would return back to normal and that the conference would go ahead in June 2021. However, since March much has changed globally and we have been challenged and invited to re-imagine a process for a virtual program. In doing so, it was decided by the organising committee that we could not just transfer the conference program with multiple workshops, performances and poster sessions to a digital event.
We do not have the resources, skills or desired timeframe to accommodate 16 workshops and 2 extended masterclasses and other activities to an online format. Sadly we have therefore cancelled the 2020/2021 Sydney International Storytelling Conference. We will consider an in-person International Conference to take place in 2022.
In the meantime, in 2021 we will be offering a different, new storytelling experience with a simpler approach which will be a celebration of storytelling in Australia. You will be able to watch and participate from the comfort of your home or gather some local storytellers and participate together.
Wishing you well as this year comes to a close. May this holiday season’s celebrations and New Year festivities bring some joy, hope and healing to you, your families and friends.
Kind regards,
Christine Carlton and Lindy Mitchell-Nilsson
